Suggested for charters of 5 to 10 days
Maximum sailing time, along with island exploration and water sports
Although itineraries can change at the whim of your party, here
are suggestions:
Night
Before Charter - Day 1:
Fly into Nassau. Stay ashore
or on board. After dinner, relax or head out to the tropical glitz of Nassau or
Paradise Island where restaurants, nightlife, casinos, and shopping
await! Day 2: We suggest
the charter starts at 10AM for a day of sailing across the Yellow Banks into the
stunning Exumas waters and islands. Learn sailing techniques and take a turn at
the helm or try trimming the sails. Or sit back and relax on the spacious deck
as your captain and crew handle it all. Arrive at Allen's Cay by sunset and tuck
into a calm and secluded anchorage. Look out as the wild Bahamian Iguanas scurry
down the beaches to greet us. Swim and snorkel with ease as dinner is prepared
to your preferences. Day 3:
Enjoy another invigorating sail toward the Exuma Land and Sea Park. We can
stop to enjoy any of the islands along the way in spectacular anchorages.
World class snorkeling, SCUBA diving, sea kayaking, and dinghy exploration are
all within easy reach. This is a major spawning ground for sea creatures and coral
reefs, as well as uniquely indigenous flora and fauna. Your options within these
keys are virtually limitless, and a camera is definitely required! Finish off
the day with a barbeque dinner on the beach under the stars, as the sun bids us
farewell with a brilliant display of colors across the sky. Day
4: By now, rush hour traffic seems a lifetime ago,
and you revel in the simple beauty of the sunrise. Start today with more exploration
of the Exuma Land and Sea Park's unique mangrove creek system. Later, we sail
on to Staniel Cay, a favorite of yachtsmen for years. This island has a beautiful
marina as well as a very festive bar and restaurant where you can mingle with
locals and other cruisers. Staniel Cay also boasts of the Thunderball Grotto and
Caves which offer amazing snorkeling. Movie buffs will recall the underwater scene
from the James Bond classic. Amazing cliffs ready to be scaled reward you with
fantastic views of the Exuma Sound's waves crashing against the shore, and private
secluded beaches are easily reached on foot. It's also a tradition to visit nearby
Big Major's Spot and feed the not-so-wild swimming hogs! Day
5: Our return cruise North toward Nassau will sail
us through the narrow cuts between cays with stunning views of the islands' beaches
and coast lines. Weather permitting, we can sail on the majestic Exuma Sound
side of the cays which offers excellent fishing and where we often spot migrating
Humpback whales playing. Day
6: Sail back down island to Norman's Cay through the
stunning cuts of Saddleback Cay. We first anchor in the deserted northern end
of Norman's, where you enjoy long beaches where the only footprints you see are
your own! Venture through the trees and rocks to find a spectacular bay that changes
magically with the tides. Sailing down Norman's a bit more, we anchor in the harbor
adjacent to the airstrip. This Southern end of the island hosts the ruins of an
infamous drug runner, and you can even snorkel on his partially submerged airplane
just feet from our anchorage. Those interested in bone fishing can explore the
nearby flats at low tide. Day 7: Enjoy
a full day sailing back across the Yellow Banks. We often spend the final night
at Rose Island just outside Nassau (weather dependent) or we can always return
to Nassau Harbor. Stroll back into the nightlife or enjoy your evening onboard
Solstice. Reflect on the beauty, discovery and solitude you have experienced,
and consider how it can enrich your life back home. Day
8: Awake to a final breakfast, and prepare to bid this
magical chain of islands farewell. Realize that next year you'll want to spend
2 weeks or more exploring and indulging!
